This has officially been the craziest year of my life. Having survived thirty-some-odd years to date, I can say that with confidence, hands down.

And it looks like we’re going to end the year on a high note.

Make that a sky-high note.

Are you ready?

Bon Appetit magazine has invited me to attend its first ever Holiday Bake-Off at its offices in New York City! (Yes, that Bon Appetit. THE Bon Appetit.)

Bon Appetit

I almost screamed. Actually, I shouldn’t lie: I did scream.

Here’s the deal

So a lot of you know that Bon Appetit is hosting an online Bake-Off on their website. (I entered that Brown-Sugar Pumpkin Cheesecake I made a while back.) Definitely check it out. There’s an awesome amount of virtual delicious-ness there.

Bon Appetit Bake-Off

This party, however, is a totally separate event in the Big Apple for 20 or so of the magazine’s favorite bloggers.

(Holy cow, how’d I get on that list?! Somebody pinch me.)

All the bloggers are bringing a holiday dessert for the bake-off. There will be three celeb judges, plus a bunch of Bon Appetit editorial staff, and media.

So if you’re in New York next Thursday, keep your eyes peeled for me. I’ll be the little mouse who’s protecting a big box of desserts like they’re the crown jewels.

Thankfully, I still have a few days to polish up my ninja skills to fend off would-be pastry thieves.

OK, so what are you making for this bake-off, Mouse?

In the interest of being ridiculously dramatic and secretive, I can’t disclose what I’m making just yet.

I can say, however, that I’ve been baking all weekend and everything at The Mouse House (including yours truly) smells like chocolate.

Wish me luck!

Win or lose, I’m beyond excited, and am totally psyched to go hang out with some fabulous bloggers and food-loving folk. I’ll have my camera in tow, and will be posting about the whole thing afterward.

If you’re on Twitter, hit me up (I’m @thehungrymouse)! Pending any iPhone disasters, I’ll be tweeting during my trip.
