Happy October! We’ve almost made it through Halloween season here in Salem, Massachusetts.
Only a few more days to go until the big party. (Check out pictures of last Halloween in Salem, MA here.)
To say that it’s cocktail season here is an understatement.
This cocktail is made with fresh apple cider and packed with fragrant ginger and cinnamon flavor.
Use your favorite bourbon or whiskey. We used Temperance, from Bull Run Distillery in Oregon, which we like a lot.
It has a higher proof, so it packs quite a punch.
We used regular old ginger ale from the supermarket, but by all means, use your favorite brand.
There are some great folks out there making small-batch ginger beers.
It’s garnished with a whole cinnamon stick with a ribbon of red apple peel wrapped around it.
If you go apple picking, grab some cider fresh from the farm.
In New England, most grocery stores also carry fresh local cider in September and October.
