Ho, ho, ho!

It’s our favorite time of year and we’re celebrating with a giveaway from our favorite jeweler, Edward Owl!

Recently, Holly shared her recipe for homemade Chocolate Babka with us.

That’s this stuff here (it was CRAZY delicious!):

We can’t thank her enough for sharing it with us—and all of you. I tweaked her recipe slightly for my post.

About Edward Owl Jewelers

So, Holly has been a dear friend of mine for many years now.

She’s also an a-ma-zing jeweler and the mastermind ladysmith behind Edward Owl Jewelry.

You can get a load of her stuff (and pick up any last-minute, glittering holiday presents) here on Etsy.

Here we are adventuring up in Portsmouth, NH this past summer.

In addition to sharing her recipe, Holly also graciously donated a gorgeous piece of her handcrafted jewelry for a holiday giveaway!

(Thank you, Holly!)

  1. So many to choose from but I guess it would be my red wine cupcakes with buttercream red wine icing. Tasty and so pretty!
  2. Definitely zeppole — Italian-style fried dough (my family’s recipe has raisins), rolled in sugar — which we make for Christmas Eve. Hot, light, fluffy, sweet heaven! As much as I love cookies, I make them all year long, plus...fried dough...so...yah. Thanks for the post, Jessie, and the giveaway — sending Santa over to Edward Owl to shop!
  3. The traditional Italian "seven fishes" Christmas Eve dinner is something I forward to very year. And my wife makes a ridiculously good chocolate dipped toffee biscotti :)
  4. Toss up: Pretzels with chocolate and peanut butter candy melted over them. Only make during holidays. Or potato latkes because i celebrate both Christmas and Hannukah.
  5. My favorite thing to eat during the holiday season is my moms homemade macaroni and cheese. That dish can make the closest days seem beautiful!
  6. We love making peanut butter bars. They are made of semi sweet chocolate chips, melted, peanut butter and powdered sugar melted together, put the peanut layer down first on the cookie sheet then the chocolate over that. Set in the fridge to harden. It’s a sugar overload but so so good!
  7. I love my mom's cut out cookies and her apricot jam filled cookies as well! My new obsession (started last year) was making ginger cake balls dipped in dark chocolate! Delicious!! This year I'm going to top them with candied ginger instead of sprinkles and I'm so excited to make them! One of these days I'll try Holly's chocolate babka recipe too. :)
  8. I fell in love with Edward Owl products a couple of years ago - Holly is so talented! I always keep a couple items “favorited” on her Etsy shop I don’t have a particular holiday treat the I go to, but I crave warm, and comforting - for example, I’m making Pastitsio because I’ve been craving that warmth and creaminess with a pinch of spice! Happy Holidays!
  9. I like trying out new things- always looking to try a new cookie or dessert recipe to add to some of the old favorites. This year I’m looking forward to trying Speculaas- a Dutch style gingerbread biscuit!
  10. i love to bake fresh bread for the holidays but I am also in charge of baking desserts. One of my favorites is apple pie because my family loves it, and that is what the holiday's are about, family. Also I love Holly's work and would love to win this pair of earrings.
  11. Yorkshire pudding! I went savory with my answer. A very British side dish that is basically a pan-sized popover. Drizzle beef gravy on top and it's heaven!
  12. My favorite is the lime jello with pineapple and cream cheese. And, hardly anyone else in my family likes it, so it is mostly mine!
